Prisoners of War
Prisoners of War (International Committee of the Red Cross Archives)
Digitized documents from various prisons of war, including postcards, reports on camp life, soldiers’ accounts, death notices, and other records. During the First World War, 10 million servicemen and civilians were captured and sent to detention camps. The belligerent countries involved provided lists of prisoners to the ICRC, which created an index card for each prisoner and detainee. The website allows users to search through all 5 million of them.

Blue Cross World War One Collection
The Blue Cross cared for sick and injured horses and sent veterinary supplies to the British and Allied armies. Their war archive contains audio slideshows and a full digital copy of the organization’s monograph The Blue Cross at War 1914-’18 and 1939-’45.
